Abstract

The massive technological advancement in the digital transformation era poses serious challenges for students in evaluating digital information, understanding social media ethics, and maintaining personal data security. Meanwhile, school guidance and counseling (GC) services face limitations in face-to-face time and the availability of interactive media. This study aims to develop, test the feasibility, and evaluate the effectiveness of an application-based classical guidance model to enhance students' digital literacy. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from Borg and Gall, the study followed five stages: need assessment, product design, development and validation, field trials, and evaluation. The subjects were 64 eighth-grade students in two junior high schools, divided into experimental (n=32) and control (n=32) groups. Data collection utilized expert validation sheets and a digital literacy scale. Results indicate that expert validation (91.3% material, 88.6% media) shows the product is highly feasible. The experimental group experienced a 42.1% increase in digital literacy scores, while the control group only improved by 14.8%, with a significant difference (p<0.01). The study concludes that the application-based classical guidance model is effective and feasible as an alternative information service strategy for school counselors.
